At Least Something Good
Came Out Of The USA Today Article...

Remember the hysteria at USA Today's website about the AP article discussing Americans adopting HIV+ orphans? (I can feel myself getting indigestion at the mere thought of it!)

At least, now, there's a very positive turn of events that seems to have come from that article.

The Henderson family, one of the families profiled in that article, recently posted on their blog about a surprising phone call they received:

"On Tuesday night, Josh got a call from his Dad. His Dad had come home from work to find a message on his answering machine from CBS/Paramount Pictures, asking if he happened to know  Josh and Erin Henderson. His Dad passed on the message and the phone number to us. (We wonder just how many Hendersons they called in the state of Wyoming to find us!!!)

To make a long story short, they want to fly Josh, Solomon, Belane and me to Los Angeles to be on a new show called The Doctors, to talk about our family, living with kids who are HIV+, HIV adoption etc....

The show/segment will focus on our family's story, as well as HIV+ adoption and the basic medical truths about HIV/AIDS, and they are planning on having an HIV specialist as a fifth doctor.

After some research and a lot of thought, prayer and talking to friends and family, we have decided to do it!!!   We had to make sure that the show was a good one, and not a "sensational" type of talk show, but after looking into it we feel good about it (and we have a TV critic in our family who had only good things to say). Josh and I, and just about everyone I spoke with, think it is a great opportunity. As my Dad said, since our mission is to educate people about HIV and advocate for HIV+ orphans, it definitely seems too good to pass up."

Wow! I'm so thrilled to see the discouraging reaction to this article turned into such a positive thing. Hopefully, the show will do justice to the Henderson's story and bring much-needed light to the plight of HIV+ orphans across the world. I've never seen The Doctors before, but now I'll have to record at least this episode. Stay tuned to the Henderson's blog for more details about the show and when it will air.

Yes, I definitely agree, Brandi. =)

Incidents like this serve as a clear reminder that He works all things--even the bad stuff!--for good for those who love Him and work according to His purpose.

And I cannot imagine any purpose being closer to the heart of God than providing hope and a home for children in need. After all, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that what He does for all of us?
